Kenny Escapes is run by an Illawarra duo with a reputation for putting on seamless events and knack for turning a nice outing into a brilliant day out.
Founder and owner of Kenny Escapes, Karli was inspired by the beauty and quality produce of the Southern Highlands and South Coast wine regions, and wanted to share it with the world.
Ten years on, Karli has built Kenny Escapes to be the leading food and wine tour provider in the region. She now combines running the business with taking care of her family of five. Karli has a deep love of food and wine, and has created her own organic edible garden from which she cooks nutritious family meals.
Karli's tour tip: Remember, much of taste relates to our sense of smell, so be sure to give your glass of wine a good swirl (keep the base of the glass on the bench to avoid spilling), place your nose deep into the glass and take a good breath in through the nose. Most wines that smell lovely will taste lovely! Don't try this method with sparkling wines though, it will only help to make them flat!
Kenny Escapes Co-Owner and Operating Director Leah, keeps the Kenny Escapes engine running smoothly, customising fantastic day tours and making sure each guest has a memorable experience.
An Illawarra local, Leah has a love for the region and when she's not putting the finishing touches on a cracking food and wine tour, she can be found hiking the Illawarra escarpment or at the beach with surfboard in tow.
Leah's tour tip: Stock up! We take you to experience local boutique wineries where the wines aren't always readily available in commercial shops (but are still at great prices!). If you don't buy a bottle of your favourite wine or gourmet treat on the day, you will get home and wish you did, guaranteed. My favourites are Two Figs Chambourcin, Silos Estate Squid Ink, Wiley Creek (Silos Estate) Sparkling and Cambewarra Estate's Rosé.
